It’s late 1964, and Chrysler is set to unleash the ultimate weapon in the F/X wars. Twelve 10/15 altered wheel base cars have been prepared to duel with the down-sized Ford and Chevy big block F/X’s. Unable to squeeze the fat Hemi into the early A-body cars, the B-body was the only choice. An evolution of the 1964 2% cars, the 10/15 cars took the breath away from the Thunderbolts and Chevy IIs, as well as the spectators. Within weeks the brand X racers were following in lock step, and the match race wars had begun.
The AWB cars evolved quickly to fuel injection, Nitro and blowers, all within a short two year period. By 1968, tube chassis with flopper bodies retired the AWB cars to history, but those of us who witnessed these cars will never forget them.
SS/AFX can build one of these historic beasts for street, or nostalgic racing. All modifications are performed in accordance with the factory engineering technical manual.
In 1968 super stock racing had reached its pinnacle, and so had Chrysler, with the release of the BO 29 and LO 23 package cars. Although not as refined as the 65’ A 990s, the Darts and Cudas were the fastest and quickest offerings that ever came out of “Detroit.” Capable of running almost 1 second faster that the national class record right out of the box, the cars dominated super stock and easily made the transition into Pro Stock.
SS/AFX offers the SS/B cars for street or nostalgic racing. These cars are built as close to a Hurst spec. car as you can get. Own a piece of the past, and relive a magical time.
